Paul Rudd will play Marvel superhero Ant Man in the franchise’s yet to be titled film that will release on 31st July, 2015. Rudd’s latest comedy, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is doing exceptionally well on the box office.

The speculations regarding probable Paul Rudd-Marvel tie up started early Thursday when it was reported that the ’40 year old Virgin’, who is actually 44, will be cast as the not-so-famous Marvel superhero Ant Man.
Trade pundits were quick to predict that if the collaboration happens, the Ant Man is well on its way to becoming famous, courtesy Rudd’s popularity amongst the fans.

According to Marvel’s Kevin Feige, casting the ‘Knocked Up’ star was the first step that director Edgar Wright took in the direction of making a successful Ant Man movie.

"We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we'd ever met with about doing the work, we knew we'd found the right guy. We couldn't be more excited for our audiences to see what he's going to do to bring Ant-Man to life."

Marvel casting squad is famous for unconventional choices for the franchise’s superhero action movies. Unconventional because one would expect the superhero actors to hail from the genre of action; however, Marvel chosen actors, namely Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth have made their mark as Iron Man, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner and Thor.

Paul Rudd has proved his mettle in comedy and rom-com genre; his versatility is well known and highly esteemed in entertainment fraternity; perhaps, that is why nobody questioned Rudd’s casting and in a Marvel superhero movie and his ability to play the Ant Man.
