Anna Paquin Cut From Upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past’; Could Still Make the Final Movie; No Bad Blood

Anna Paquin's mutant X-Men superhero character Rogue landed on the cutting room floor. The Oscar-winning actress's brave alter ego will not return in the upcoming superhero comic book movie, "X-Men: Days of Future Past." But it is possible Anna Paquin could be worked back in during upcoming reshoots. "X-Men: First Class" sequel was the fourth time Paquin played the characters Marie and Rogue.

Anna Paquin was reprising her role as Marie and Marie's superhero alter ego, Rogue in the latest movie in the X-Men Franchise, "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The "True Blood" star had only shot a couple days' worth of footage. Paquin filmed a "rescue sequence" early in the movie's production. The scene features Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, who plays Iceman, Ian McKellen who plays Magneto) and Patrick Stewart who was playing Professor X.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" Director Bryan Singer told Entertainment Weekly that the scene featuring Paquin  had to be cut from the final film due to time constraints. Paquin was notified of the edit. Singer said "she completely understood" and was "very professional".

Singer said "Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it"

Singer said the cut had nothing to do with the Paquin's performance. He said "She did a fantastic job. She was awesome in the sequence. She's a brilliant actress. I would work with her in a heartbeat."

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" combines the casts of the original X-Men trilogy with the cast of 2011′s First Class.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is scheduled to open in theaters on May 23, 2014.
