Taylor Swift Charity Work 2013 Puts Her at the Top of the list of Most Charitable Stars; Beyonce, One Direction and the Late Paul Walker Also Gave Big This Year

Taylor Swift's charity work in 2013 didn't put her in the red, but it went beyond most stars. Taylor Swift was named this year's most charitable star.

In a list compiled by DoSomething.Org, the Country singer Taylor Swift was named the most charitable celebrity of the year. Ace Showbiz reported that Taylor topped the poll for being the most charitable star in the industry in 2013.

For her 24th birthday, Taylor Swift paid it forward. She put $100,000 to the Nashville Symphony. The symphony was suffering financial problems. That wasn't all Swift gave to the music capital of country music. Taylor Swift opened her $4 million Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame will have classroom space, a hands-on instrument room and ongoing education opportunities. Officials at the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum say the new Taylor Swift Education Center will increase opportunities for education by seven times.

In November, Taylor Swift paired up with Bon Jovi and Prince William to play Bon Jovi's'Livin' On a Prayer' at the Winter White Gala in London at a benefit for homeless youth.

One Direction, the British Boyband came in second and megastar Beyonce Knowles pulled in at number three. One Direction volunteered at Britain's charity Comic Relief in Ghana. Beyonce hit the stage at "Chime for Change," a charity concert for women's rights in London and sang "Survivor" with a cancer survivor at a recent Las Vegas show. Paul Walker, who was killed in a recent tragic car accident came in at number for for his " Reach Out Worldwide" charity. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were the fifth biggest givers of 2013.

Naomi Hirabayashi, chief marketing officer of DoSomething.Org  said "It's pretty amazing that the top two spots on the list are held by celebrities under age 25. For the first time, 50% of the list is age 30 or younger. This rising generation is using their money and star power for good."
