'Homeland' Season 4 Spoilers: Brody 'Spiritually Remains' In Series Through Carrie's Baby; Istanbul Will 'Reinvent' Show

"Homeland" season 4 will likely be very different without Brody in the series, but spoilers reveal that Brody will live on in the show through Carrie's baby as she takes on Istanbul in season 4, "Homeland" creator says.

The Latin Post reports "Homeland" creator Alex Gansa gave a spoiler about season 4 during an interview with Variety, revealing how Brody will live on despite his shocking death in the season 3 finale.

"Obviously Carrie is going to have to deal with the child. We never thought she was going to have a miscarriage or have an abortion. This child is how Brody spiritually remains in the show... The other idea running around our brains Is that it will be really interesting to see Carrie do what she was trained to do - be a case officer in a foreign country. That seems to us like a really interesting place to start to reinvent the show," Gansa said, referring to Claire Danes' character Carrie Mathison, and her CIA promotion to Istanbul, Turkey.

Alex Gansa has previously spoken about a "reinvention" of "Homeland" in season 4, when he gave an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"There's no question this show is undergoing a major reinvention or reboot for season four," Gansa said.

Spoiler alert: Gansa previously confirmed that Brody truly was killed in Tehran, and will not return to "Homeland" season 4 in the land of the living. But could he return in a dream of Carrie's, or in a flashback?

"I would say highly doubtful. But you never know," Gansa told Entertainment Weekly.

One thing's for sure: Mandy Patinkin will return to "Homeland" to play Saul in season 4 as a series regular.

"Everybody should rest assured that Mandy Patinkin is coming back as a series regular. I can tell you that with 100 percent certainty," Gansa promised. "Although he's not at a desk at Langley anymore, the CIA does outsource a lot of jobs to private contractors. He's going to be in that circle. He's still in the intelligence-gathering profession and the CIA could use somebody of his immense skills and knowledge for various intelligence work."

"Homeland" season 4 returns to HBO fall 2014.
