"Roar" singer Katy Perry, feels there is no need for her to make a New Year's resolution.

When on "American Top 40," Perry insisted that if she needs to make a transformation then she can do it any day of the year.

"If I need to change something, I feel like I just change it," she said, while answering some caller questions on American Top 40. "Like, I just make the change that day. It doesn't have to be the pressure of January 1 because it feels like you're setting yourself up. But you know, you do you and I'll do me!"

Perry does seem to stick by that motto. When she divorced from her ex-husband Russell Brand she made changes that she felt were necessary.

During a past interview with Alan Carr of the U.K. talk show "Alan Carr: Chatty Man," the "Roar" vocalist shared some methods she embraced while dealing with her divorce from the British comedian.

"I surrounded myself with my good friends, I did this whole cleanse where I didn't have any of the alcohol for three months -- that was devastating -- I did vitamins and supplements, and hikes and meditation and prayer," she said.

Now Perry is starting the new year in a better place with musician boyfriend John Mayer.

"We have a lot of fun," Perry said, during a joint interview with Mayer on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." "You know, we have music as an understanding and love between each other and we connect. And you know, it's like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day if it's been tough I don't really have to go into it he just gets it. You know, so it's nice with that understanding."
