Yuna Kim Scores 80.60 At Korean Nationals [VIDEO]: 2014 Olympic Short Program Wows Fans, Others Criticize Score Inflation

Yuna Kim has begun her 2014 competitive season at the Korean Figure Skating Championships, and her short program may have set another world record.

Her short program is to "Send in the Clowns" by Stephen Sondheim, and at the 2014 Korean Nationals, Yuna Kim managed to score 80.60, the first and only ladies score to appear in the 80s that this reporter can remember.

Granted, national championships in figure skating are rife with inflation to promote patriotism and excite fans. This short program score, after all, is over seven points higher than her short program score at the Golden Spin of Zagreb in December.

National championships are not taken into consideration for world records, but this is still an impressive feat, even for Yuna Kim.

“The most important thing is to focus on completing my own goals,” Kim said, according to NBC. “When I came back on the rink in 2012, I set a goal of wrapping up my career well rather than just winning medals. I’m not preparing for any special skills for Sochi because I don’t feel like they are necessary.”

“I’m not feeling much pressure for the Olympics because I think I already have done many things in my career,” Kim said, according to JoongAng. “I will try to enjoy my second Olympics.”
