Chris Hemsworth ‘Thor’ Role Supposedly For Liam Hemsworth? ‘I Auditioned, Didn’t Get Called Back,’ Says ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Actor

While Chris Hemsworth's 'Thor' role was able to convince audience that he could indeed wield a hammer, the 30-year-old actor recently confessed that he was not initially chosen for the coveted role. According to him, his younger brother Liam Hemsworth nearly nabbed the role when he auditioned for it.

"I auditioned for 'Thor' and I didn't get called back. I was intimidated by the director, Kenneth Branagh. To me, he is Shakespeare. My brother, Liam, was luckier. He was one of the final five guys up for the part," said Hemsworth to W Magazine.

None of the five shortlisted guys have been chosen for the role because Hemsworth's manager interfered and made a helpful suggestion: "My manager said, 'If you liked Liam, maybe you'll also like his older brother.' This time, I was pissed off. I didn't care about Shakespeare anymore; swagger got me the part."

Due to his successful performance as the God of Thunder, Hemsworth was able to reprise the same role for the famed 'The Avengers' film. Even 'Thor: The Dark World' earned more than $630 million which made it Marvel Cinematic Universe's third highest-grossing film.

Hemsworth definitely has a lot to be thankful for because apart from expecting his second child with wife Elsa Pataky, he is also scheduled to appear this year in 'Shadow Runner; a thriller based on the real-life assassination of a Hamas leader. He is likewise currently working with director Ron Howard for 'In The Heart of the Sea'. Hemsworth will also reportedly reprise his role in the second installment of 'Snow White and the Huntsman'.
