GAON And Golden Disk To Be Held In Korea This Year After Being Held Overseas Previously: What Does Their Homecoming Imply?

The twenty-eighth "Golden Disk Awards" and third annual "Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards" are all going to be held at home this year. First event that will initiate in South Korea will be on January 16 (Thursday) at Kwanghee University for the "Golden Disk Awards." Then once February 12 (Friday) rolls in, the "Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards" will kick off. The first two months, Seoul, South Korea will be busy due to these two events.

Judging Criteria For Both Awards

Since these two events are held in South Korea this year, there is not going to be too much international exposure when it comes to the voting as well selecting of the winner for each category. Can we say this is unfair and that this will go based off popularity rather than numbers? The "Golden Disk Awards" is judged on each "industry" regarding "sales" plus performance. Numbers are then tallied up to determine the winner for each category. "Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards" on the other hand is an annual event (January - December) of the year; so stars win through their music as well albums; which is based on how many were sold during that year. Music is if people paid attention like downloading on iTunes if you were to describe the similarity on how this judging criteria works.
