Fans Bully Ashley Wagner Over Olympic Team Pick Instead Of Mirai Nagasu, 'I'm Very Prepared For That': Diva Wagner Continues To Voice LGBT Support Over Anti-Gay Russian Laws

The past weekend for figure skater Ashley Wagner has been a tumultuous one, and despite being named to the US Olympic Team, the former national champion is getting a lot of hate for the decision.

"I'm fully, fully prepared to get people saying, 'Why are you on the team? How did that happen? I don't get it. You don't deserve to be here,'" said Ashley Wagner yesterday after finishing 4th overall at the 2014 US Figure Skating Championships.

"I'm very prepared for that. But I'm also prepared to say, OK, the hard part's over. I made it onto the team. I can't dwell on this performance, because that's not going to do anything for me. I'm just going to propel myself into becoming that strong, hard-headed Olympian."

Despite her troublesome performance and a placement below Gracie Gold, Polina Edmunds, and Mirai Nagasu, Ashley Wagner was named to the US Olympic Team over former Olympian Mirai Nagasu.

According to The Skating Lesson, Mirai Nagasu is currently in the process of filing an appeal of the decision, although it is uncertain whether this is to retroactively target Wagner's place on the Team, or Polina Edmunds'.

So far, fans of Mirai Nagasu have been attacking Ashley Wagner nonstop on Twitter.

However, Wagner seems to be remaining strong, and even took the time to continue to voice her support on speaking out against Russia's anti-gay propaganda laws, the only competitive figure skater to do so.

"I've had a lot of people come up and thank me, and it makes me really happy to have support back from the LGBT community but I don't feel like I did anything special," said Ashley according to USA Today.

"I just opened my mouth, and apparently that was a big deal. But the support has been overwhelming, and when I hear from people that they're really proud of me for speaking up, that only really makes me want to stick to the cause even more because that puts a face on who I'm pushing for."
