YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk Transformed Into An Early Bird?

YG Entertainment's CEO Yang Hyun Suk has changed for the New Year. What's most noticeable is his 180 degree transformation into an early riser. He even said, "It's difficult to change my lifetime pattern all of a sudden. I think it'll be even more difficult than quitting smoking."

Even still, his rising time has changed to 7AM starting from New Year's Day. He's putting his own strong commitment to practice, and as a result it's also taking a toll on YG employees. That's because the lax start time that's seen in other agencies has disappeared from YG. Before he used to start the day in the afternoon, work all night, and leave for home in the morning. Now he's starting work early in the morning and leaving late at night. There's been talk of "end to happiness and beginning of suffering" at YG.

Yang Hyun Suk shared, "Honestly it's so hard to wake up early in the morning. However YG's artists have expanded in number and there's so much to do, so there's no time to really complain."

Not too long ago he's said that "in the new year I'll live every day like it's a Monday." Thanks to his new commitment, he's even been going into work by himself on Sundays. As a result, the YG employees are unintentionally being put in an uncomfortable (?) position.

Yang Hyun Suk's transformation is the first step for further growth in global company YG Entertainment. Recently YG's idol group Big Bang had a very successful year, especially with their Japan Dome Tour, which involved 770,000 people and an estimated 100,000,000,000 Won (roughly 100 million US dollars) rise in profit. Essentially, they've earned as much money as a mid-sized company's yearly sales in a short time and with only 5 members. That's all thanks in part to their status not only as Hallyu stars but as musicians who are recognized globally in Japan and even globally.

YG has a substantial amount of tasks and goals for the upcoming year. Starting with Taeyang's solo album early in the year, YG also has many comebacks lined up for the company's main artists, including Big Bang, Psy, and 2NE1. Because the fans are in great anticipation for these comebacks, Yang Hyun Suk has been burdened with a great responsibility. He has commented, "It wouldn't be enough even if I had 10 bodies. I'm focusing on work, work, and work."

Comebacks aren't the only things YG has to prepare this year. "WIN" victors WINNER, "K-Pop Star" winner Akdong Musician," and a new girl group will also be debuting this year. There's really no time to take it easy with such pressure to prepare their debuts.

Psy, Big Bang, and 2NE1 haven't had any album releases besides new songs in 2013. YG has announced that they will be coming out with new albums this year. As one of the Big 3 companies, YG is known for their few rookie group debuts. However, they will be releasing the boy group WINNER for the first time in 8 years since Big Bang. The new girl group will be the first girl group debut in 5 years since 2NE1. Akdong Musician will be releasing their debut album, and Lee Hi will be coming out with a 2nd album. It'll be a busier time than ever for YG Entertainment in 2014.

YG Entertainment musicians will have to battle each other to prove their music thanks to this busy schedule for the agency.
