Leonaro DiCaprio Gets Another Oscar Nomination 20 Years After His First! ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’ Actor To Focus On Environmental Work This Year?

Leonardo DiCaprio received another Oscar nomination for "The Wolf of Wall Street." The nomination came 20 years after his first.

Upon hearing of the Oscars nomination, DiCaprio released a statement via New York Daily News that he's "deeply humbled" by the honor, adding that the movie has been a passion project.

"I found the role to be one of the most challenging and rewarding of my career," he said.

The explosive actor never had any luck with the Oscars, having won none despite an impressive resume. He just recently won the Golden Globes for best actor in a comedy/musical for the same role.

The Wolf of Wall Street tells the story of Jordan Belfort, who was once a high-roller of Wall Street before his hard fall. The Martin Scorsese film received four other nominations from the Oscars including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Jonah Hill of "Superbad") and Best Adapted Screenplay.

In a report by Deadline, DiCaprio said that he knew coming in that the movie would be polarizing.

"We knew that Jordan's life was written as a cautionary tale but displayed the hedonistic, flagrant world of Wall Street at that time," he said. "We wanted for there to be a dialogue about this attitude - his is a very destructive attitude, and what some people don't get is that is ultimately not a cautionary tale but an indictment of this world."

Meanwhile, the actor said that he plans to resume his environmental advocacies this year, particularly on a documentary on the environment.

He admitted that doing three consecutive films "took a lot out of me."

"The culmination of that was Wolf of Wall Street, which was an adrenaline rush from beginning to end and you can see the energy that went into it onscreen from everybody. I was so passionate about just making this happen and it took a long time," DiCaprio said.
