It will be the first of three meetings in 10 nights. These two teams will meet again in a week from Wednesday outside at Yankee Stadium. The Islanders will be home for that game in what will be the first regular-season outdoor game in the Islanders' history. But, the Isles bring momentum from 24 hours ago into MSG.

"We created chances and found a way to make it count," captain John Tavares told NHL.com. "It was meaningful as a group to come back with an effort like this after Saturday's game. Momentum is important for us."

Rick Nash scored twice for the Rangers Sunday night as he has turned around what has been a disappointed season, according to his standards. At the same time, Henrik Lundqvist has improved his game lately, lowering his GAA to 2.54 and his save percentage to .915.

"I think there's an expectation from Rick himself and our group that he's going to find a way to contribute and get on that score sheet, just like there's an expectation from our group that Hank's going to stop the puck and give us a chance to win," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "Those players are elite players that are difference-makers that need to find a way to make a difference in a positive way, and that's what those guys are doing for us right now."
