iPad Pro Release Date Falls Back To Q3, Bigger Apple Slate Tipped To Boast 12.9" Screen With 2K And 4K Versions, Eye-Tracking Tech, And More Powerful Chipset

In the past couple of months, we have heard a lot of iPad Pro release date rumors and specs - and let's admit it, we were really excited about this upcoming Apple tablet.

However, according to UberGizmo and DigiTimes, that date could most likely fall at Q3 2014.

Earlier this month, rumors claimed that the new 12.9-inch iPad would have two variations - one with a 2K display, and one with 4K resolution. But with the release date going as far as August or September, it would be difficult to imagine how Apple manages to release two huge iPads with different resolutions and price ranges.

Aside from the screen size and resolution, the iPad Pro or Maxi (as what other tech sites call it), the upcoming Apple slate is also rumored to get an eye-tracking technology which would theoretically make it a more secure device.

However, just yesterday Samsung has reportedly dismissed the iris-scanning tech it plans to place on its Galaxy S5 because it is non-intuitive. Aside from the fact that the user would need to place the device close to his eyes everytime he wants to unlock it, it would also be difficult in low-light conditions, or if the owner wears glasses.

If Apple indeed plans to get an eye-scanning feature on its iPad Pro, it should effectively resolve these possible issues.

Lastly, the rumored iPad would likely get a more powerful chipset, even a first of its kind. As a possible replacement to the MacBook Airs, the bigger iPad should have enough power and speed to match Apple's well-loved portable laptops.
