A month into the year and we already see a lot of interesting upcoming Android phones in 2014. But while a good number of these devices boast montsrous specs, there are also some that would certainly be great options for budget-conscious consumers. 

One of the freshest releases is Xolo's Q700S, a midrange droid that does not pretend to be a flagship-level device, but manages to hold its own in a lucrative Indian market. 

With a price tag of only INR 9,999 or about $162, you would expect an entry-level smartphone for the most basic users. Fortunately, Xolo is not like most manufacturers. 

The Xolo Q700S packs a 4.5-inch IPS display with 800 x 480 resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal memory. 

Also aboard are a microSD card slot, an 8-megapixel rear cam and a VGA front facer, and 1,800mAh of battery. 

Measuring only 8.9mm thin and boasting a metallic build, the Xolo Q700S is certainly a looker, and we keep wondering why Samsung sticks to its plastic back covers. 

The droid runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and comes out in silver and gold editions.
