Free Games For Xbox Live Gold Members: Get ‘Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light’ For 0 Microsoft Points Until January 31; ‘Happy Wars’ Free-to-Play Even Without Subscription

Microsoft announced that the free games for Xbox Live Gold members for January are "Sleeping Dogs" and "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light."

For the first half of January, gamers are able to access "Sleeping Dogs" as one of the free games for Xbox Live Gold members. Specifically, the game was made available for 0 Microsoft Points from January 1 to 15.

On the 16th of the month, it was replaced by the other free game for Xbox Live Gold members, which is "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light."

The platform action video game from Crystal Dynamics was released in August 2011. As described on GameZone, this free game for Xbox Live Gold members "follows Lara as she goes in search of the Mirror of Smoke, an ancient artifact located in a ruin known as the Temple of Light. Lara is joined by Totec, an ancient hero released alongside a mysterious ancient evil. Together, the two set off in a top-down run-'n'-gun adventure. Below is the official description of the game."

The free games for Xbox Live Gold members are offered by Microsoft under its Games with Gold program. Particularly, Games with Gold provides 2 free games for Xbox Live Gold members each month, the first one available on the 1st day of the month, and then will be replaced by the second title on the 16th.

Meanwhile, Xbox players who do not have Gold subscription can access a free-to-play title called "Happy Wars."

According to VG24/7, the game developer, Toylogic, has released the 11th update for the game, making it free to all players without the need for an Xbox Live Gold subscription. However, there are some exceptions.

Toylogic confirmed via a press release that Happy Wars is a free to play game for both the silver and gold Xbox Live subscribers excluding the multiplayer mode and the missions and treasure map feature of the game.
