Knockout Game News Story: Elderly Woman Knocked Out With Dumb-Bell by 13-Year Old at Mississippi Wal-Mart; Rose McGowan Recently Chased Off Knockout Game Player

Knockout Game News Story: An older woman says she was the victim of the brutal knockout game this weekend at a Mississippi Wal-Mart. The woman says she was shopping when a 13-year-old boy hit her in the head with a dumb-bell in a knockout game attack. The knockout game put her in the hospital.

The "knockout game" is a recent trend. Reports say teenagers randomly punch a stranger to see if they can knock them out with one punch.

The media and the police don't agree on the "knockout game." The media claims it is a new, dangerous, fad among teens, the police say it's not happening. The New York Times, NPR and other media outlets dismiss "knockout game" attacks that have been reported across the country as "overblown."  The woman who was injured at a Pearl, Mississippi, Walmart swears it was part of a "knockout game" set up.

The unidentified woman was hospitalized after the "knock out game" attack. She was transported and released from St. Dominic's Hospital.

A witness told WLBT that  the "knockout game" incident happened at the Pearl Walmart on Thursday. The female victim was shopping when a 13-year male hit her on the head with a dumbbell. The woman said "I just felt something on the back of my head and went forward. Turned around, and I looked. I saw the boy running."

The woman said she is now scared to shop alone after the teenager attacked her for no reason. She said "To me, it's not a game, because it can cost somebody their life."

The victim told the police "said they found him in the deli with his mom shopping." The attack victim added "Violence is never the answer. To hurt someone just to do it is not funny, and its not a game."

Walmart shopper Brandon Hayes said "I've got a wife and daughter so I worry about them if I'm not around and they're just out shopping. Especially a place like Wal-mart you know. We come here almost daily so it's pretty scary."

Pearl Police confirm the attack and say the 13-year-old boy gave no reason as to why he did it.  Police in Pearl charged the teen with aggravated assault.  Authorities said the attack in consistent with other knockout game strikes seen on the Internet. The teenager is due in juvenile court on Tuesday.

Authorities have reported at least seven knockout game attacks in New York, Illinois, Missouri and Washington.

A couple who were victims of a "knockout game" in a Charlottesville, Va., mall say they are being all but ignored by police. Jeanne Doucette and Marc Adams were attacked on Friday, Dec. 20, just outside the Wells Fargo building at around 1 a.m. They say three men attacked them in what looked like a random act of violence. Over a week later, Charlottesville police have no suspects.

Doucette took pictures of the incident and says there were other witnesses to the crime. She says the police haven't shared her images.

Doucette said "I cannot understand why they didn't let people know what happened. Those pictures might have prompted some tips."

Rose McGowan tweeted that she saw an elderly man get attacked. She said she chased down the knockout game assailant but couldn't catch him.
