NBA Sleeved Jerseys Draw Mix Reaction From Players; Some Think NBA Doesn’t Care About What Players Feel

The NBA's sleeved jerseys are probably the worst innovation that the league has introduced in recent years. In fact, it shouldn't be called an innovation, according to many players who have tried wearing them.

Bleacher Report shared on Wednesday that many pro basketballers, some of them considered superstars, have aired their disgust over the form-fitting sleeved uniform.

"They are hideous, the sleeves are awkward, and they are being implemented so the NBA can make more money," said a Western Conference power forward who wants to remain anonymous.

"$$$$. I don't think they look good. Or feel good. But I've come to accept that the NBA doesn't care what we think," a guard from the Southeastern Conference said.

"There's nothing wrong with wearing traditional jerseys except some fans don't want to wear a jersey," said a Western Conference All-Star point guard. "Not a good enough reason."

Lebron James of the Miami Heat is among the first to express his disapproval of such jerseys. The first time he saw the Adidas' sleeved jerseys for the New Orleans All-Star next month, Ethan J. Skolnick of Bleacher Reported quoted King James saying:

"Whatever. I'm not a big fan of the sleeved jerseys, but whatever."

During their Christmas game vs the Los Angeles Lakers, James also spoke against sleeved jerseys.

"I can't have my shooters out there worrying about some sleeves and not shooting the ball."

While there are players who disapprove such jersey, there also some who thinks it is not their decision what to wear during games.

"I don't really view it as anything other than another way for the league to make money selling more jerseys," a veteran swingman said. "The jerseys themselves aren't better than the traditional ones."
