FIFA World Cup 2014: Brazil Stadium Construction A Month Behind Schedule, Sunday’s First Test Match Postponed In Porto Alegre

FIFA World Cup 2014 will be hosted by Brazil, but the first test match in the Porto Alegre, Brazil stadium is being postponed, as the construction outside the stadium is at least a month behind schedule.

According to the AP, the first test match at a FIFA World Cup 2014 stadium in the southern Brazilian city of Porto Alegre was supposed to take place this Sunday. However, the match will be postponed, because infrastructure work outside the Beira-Rio stadium has not been completed.

The AP reports that the Beira-Rio stadium is not expected to be fully completed until late February, but local club Internacional was set to host matches with limited attendance beginning on Sunday.

The stadium in Brazil will host five FIFA World Cup games in June 2014.

According to the AP, Brazil was scheduled to have all 12 World Cup stadiums ready by the end of 2013. However, as of January 2014, five stadiums in Brazil remain under construction.
