Russia won 4-1 over Germany, 2-1 over Japan and 3-1 over Sweden. They finished first in Group B, thus playing the Swiss because they finished fourth in Group A. The winner of the matchup will play against Canada, who finished first in Group A. Japan and Germany have been eliminated from the Olympics.

Prior to the Olympics, the world rankings seeded Russia as the three seed and Switzerland as the fourth seed.
