Women's Hockey Bronze Medal Game Sweden Vs Switzerland To Be Played Thursday 7:00 A.M. ET - Winner Leaves With A Medal, Loser Goes Home Empty-Handed

Women's hockey Bronze medal game Sweden vs Switzerland will take place on Thursday at 7:00 a.m. ET.

After Monday's game came to an end, Sweden could not pull off the upset vs USA, losing 6-1. Meanwhile, Switzerland allowed three goals early against Canada, and was not able to make the comeback. Now the gold medal and bronze medal games for women's hockey at Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympics has been determined.

The gold medal game between USA and Canada will take place at noon ET on Thursday, while it will be Sweden vs Switzerland for the bronze. It was a shocker to see the Sweds playing in this, but thanks to the upset of women's hockey third ranked team in the world in Finland in the quarterfinals, now Sweden has a chance to leave Sochi with a medal around their necks.

If it wasn't for the bad start for the Swiss and goaltender Florence Schelling, maybe they could have pulled off the upset over Canada. They allowed three goals within the first 10 minutes of the first period. That's all that Canada would get. Switzerland made it 3-1 early in the second period, but that was all they could muster up.

The Canadians took two penalties, given the Swiss an opportunity for a 5-on-3 advantage. After the first penalty expired, Switzerland still had a one-skater advantage. A scramble in front of the net led to Canadian goalie Shannon Szabados being out of position. Swiss forward Jessica Lutz capitalized and slid a puck past Szabados for Switzerland's first goal against Canada in two games, according to Global News.

Switzerland was projected to be playing in the bronze medal game, but Sweden was not. Sweden had an unbelievable third period against Finland, scoring three goals for the victory. They couldn't carry the momentum against Team USA. They allowed three goals after one, but then allowed two more after two. They didn't get a goal until there was less than 10 minutes left in the third period.
