NBA Trade Rumors: Jeremy Lin Back To New York? Despite Ugly Separation, Desperate Knicks Will Revive 'Linsanity' At Madison Square Garden!

The NBA Trade Rumors have become more creative, and some scenarios that were previously deemed impossible are beginning to come out. Despite the bitter separation that surrounded the departure of Jeremy Lin from New York, the desperate Knicks would give it one more try.

New York is running out of options for the point guard position. Their current starter, Raymond Felton, is one of the worst in the league both in offense and defense. Their offense is in total disarray, and often relies on the  one on one brilliance of Carmelo Anthony.

They have tried to improve at the position. They wanted to trade for Kyle Lowry but the Raptors just laughed at their offer. They tried a more desperate move, this time for Top 5 point guard Rajon Rondo, but all they could offer was Amare Stoudemire's horrible contract which will finally become an expiring contract at the beginning of the next season. No one, especially not Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge will accept that.

Now they have their sights on Jeremy Lin.It can be recalled that Lin had an unpleasant exit from the Knicks. Local team blog Bullets over Broadway recalls:

"There are many theories to the true reason for Lin's exodus.  Some believe Anthony didn't like him stealing his thunder as King of New York.  Others believe James Dolan got upset with the way he negotiated for a new contract the following summer.  Many in the know believe Mike Woodson did not believe in him.  Probably a little of all of the above are true.

You can't blame Lin - his heart and knowledge of the court and game outweighs his talent.  He has his physical limitations but he knows how to win.  After the season, with Mike D'Antoni gone, the first thing the Knicks organization did was look for a point guard.  They tried to get Steve Nash and settled with Jason Kidd.  Two great point guards past their prime.  Don't believe the organization rhetoric that the move was to mentor Lin; it was to replace him.  Stereotyping just does not work in Lin's favor.  Harvard educated, God oriented, Asian American.  Was he the Tim Tebow of the NBA ?"

This will be a transaction between two desperate teams. What the Rockets are asking for might give the Knicks pause: Iman Shumpert and rising star Tim Hardaway, Jr. Will desperate owner Jim Dolan bite?

NBC reminds that the Knicks should proceed with caution:

"The Rockets are open to moving Lin to avoid that balloon payment next season, however they are a team playing well right now (seven wins in a row) and are going to need a real incentive to mess with their chemistry right now.

The real question for the Knicks is simply this one: What would Carmelo Anthony think about the deal? Everything New York does has to be seen through the "keeping 'Melo happy" prism and this is no different."

The deadline is a few hours away. This is one dramatic subplot.
