NBA Trade Rumors: Danny Granger Trade Not Yet Done; Former Pacers Franchise Player Might Go To Miami Heat, Reports Say

Since being drafted 17th overall by the Indiana Pacers in 2005, Danny Granger has become the team's face. He was the franchise player who represented Indiana in All-Stars and other events. On Monday, the team decided to break up with him by trading him to the Philadelphia Sixers for Evan Turner. Because of the injury he sustained over the past seasons, not to mention that other players like Paul George and Roy Hibbert started making names in his absence, Granger became expendable.

According to Indiana president Larry Bird, trading his 'favorite' player wasn't easy.

"It's just a tough deal," Bird said. "Danny's always been my favorite. I understand the disappointment. A lot of people say that I've been trying to trade him for a year and I haven't been doing that. I even told Danny that. I did tell him if a great opportunity arises, you can't say you'll never trade somebody."

"I didn't think there was going to be anything there [with trades] that we're really looking for, but when this came up and caught our attention, and we thought maybe we should do it. Try to stabilize that second unit," Bird told the Star.

Granger was sure hurt because he thinks he was traded t a non-playoff team. However, the 2009 Most Improved Player shouldn't sulk yet. Reports have it that the Sixers won't be his last stop. He might land to a team that can definitely get him a title. The last team that the Indiana Pacers would want to see him playing for.

According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, a two-straight champion Miami Heat is looking at the options of signing Granger, alongside Glen Davis and Antawn Jamison.

The most interesting possibility is Danny Granger. How crazy would it be if the 76ers buy out Granger and then he joins the HEAT? I'm sure he's not too happy with Indiana after being dealt away, especially to Philly, so it's possible that he could look to join the HEAT in search of a ring. That would add drama to an already intense series. If they can't land Granger, some possibilities include Glen Davis, Antawn Jamison and any of the current free agents or players returning from China.

If ever this pushes through, Granger will have a chance to play and win against the team that trashed him.
