Los Angeles Lakers Kent Bazemore Nervous But Productive In Win Vs Celtics; Former Warriors Guard Says He Idolizes Kobe Bryant

When the Los Angeles Lakers traded their point guard Steve Blake for the Golden State Warriors' Kent Bazemore and Marshoon Brooks, fans were disappointed, so is Blake Mamba's wife. They think that the 34-year old veteran deserves to stay in Hollywood and at the same time believes they got nothing in exchange.

On the other hand, Bazemore, who is more known for his funny shot celebrations, and Brooks are out there happy to be part of the league's most decorated franchise. However, they can content with being happy, they need to prove themselves to say that they are worthy of a spot in the beleagured Lakers season.

On Friday, they proved just that. Bazemore and Brooks provided bench spark for the Lakers and helped the team win vs the visiting Boston Celtics. Brooks scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter against his former club while Bazemore recorded 15 points, including two clutch threes in the final two minutes. Nobody expected this kind of performace from the two guards, especially Bazemore who has been buried in th Golden State Warriors bench for a long time.

"Jordan Farmar did a great job down the stretch leading us. He's been around a while, and he told us to just go out there and have fun and leave it all out there on the floor," said Bazemore, who was also efficient in 33 minutes.

Before the game, the 24-year old shooting guard was nervous, not only because he's not sure if he's going to get some burn but because he is standing side by side to them he grew up watching, he grew up idolizing. Everybody would definitely understand that if you are a no namer and you are playing alongside five-time champion Kobe Bryant, you'll feel intimidated.

"I was nervous," Bazemore admitted after the game. "Kobe walked in at the beginning of the game, and I was like, 'man'...you don't want to go out there and embarrass yourself in your first game when he's sitting back in the locker room. That was in the back of my mind the whole time."

In the end, he was able to overcome that. He and Brooks played the entire fourth quarter and made a good account of themselves. They lead the team to a 38-18 blitz and ended the team's record losing streak.
