Damian Lillard Adidas Contract To Be Cancelled Off? Sources Say Blazers Star Will Leave The Shoe Outfit? Will He Sign For Another Brand?

Portland Trailblazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard has been one of the faces of Adidas since his rookie year. When former MVP Derrick Rose went down due to an injury, his stature as the shoe brand's ambassador became more glowing. Now in his second year, Lillard has been getting more attention from the public and the press, proof to that is his participation in all All-Star Weekend events in New Orleans. With the attention he is getting, Adidas will definitely benefit a lot from the 23-year old guard. However, their relationship might come to an end. According to sources, Damian Lillard Adidas Contract might be broken off by the end of the season.

Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com said in a post that the 2012-2013 Rookie of the Year is close to leaving the shoe brand that also featured big names like Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, and Kevin Garnett.

"Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has performed major moves ever since stepping foot on an NBA court, and now he's about to make major moves off of it.

Lillard, 23, has a profitable rookie shoe endorsement deal with adidas, though that could change abruptly due to clever language in his contract," Haynes wrote on February 23.

Being that he took home the 2012-13 NBA Rookie of the Year award, became an NBA All-Star and reached other unique incentive clauses in his first two seasons, Lillard will be able to opt out of his shoe contract at the end of the basketball season and either renegotiate a more lucrative deal with Adidas, or open negotiations with Nike, Brand Jordan, Reebok or Under Armor, league sources informed CSNNW.com.

Another source that's vastly briefed on Lillard's situation added, "There's no doubt about it, he's opting out."

Once Lillard departs Adidas, sources said he'll likely end up with Nike. A decade before, the same thing happened with Kobe Bryant. The Black Mamba first endorsed Adidas but when he became more popular and his contract with Adidas expired, he signed with Nike.
