L.A. won the first game by 13 points and it is catching New Orleans at a good time. The Pelicans fell in excruciating fashion Saturday, giving up a dunk with 0.9 seconds left in regulation to lose 94-93 to Washington.
"That one hurt," coach Monty Williams told NBA.com. "Our guys are really stinging over that one because we felt like we did enough to win; just a second more, we just didn't have it."
Jamal Crawford is playing well off the bench as he has another possible Sixth Man of the Year award coming to him while L.A. keeps stringing wins together for a playoff push. They lead the Pacific Division, but are fourth in the conference in what seems like it will be a tough road to the playoffs for the entire teams in contention.
"It's very important," Crawford told NBA.com. "Coming down the stretch, we just want to continue to do our game, every single night, no matter who we're playing. It doesn't matter. As long as we keep getting better down the stretch, I think we'll be in good shape."
Anthony Davis is coming off a 26 points Saturday, where he averaged 14.7 points over the last three. The Pelicans need him to play well if this young team wants to turn it around and finish the regular season strongly.
