The Blue Devils enters this game ranked at No. 6 in the nation, falling a spot or two since losing to conference foe North Carolina this past week. However, Duke bounced back with a win at home over top-ranked team Syracuse, with the game ending in controversy. Duke's Rodney Hood drew an offensive charge from C.J. Fair of the Orange, which led to Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim storming the court, and ending up ejected after two technicals. The tirade, over a questionable late call in a close game, led to the Blue Devils winning 66-60.

Duke's standout freshman Jabari Parker, finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the game, which was the fourth double-double he's had in five games. Parker told the media about the recent back-to-back challenges from UNC and Cuse:

"That's the way it's going to be in the ACC tournament and then the NCAA. We've got to play back-to-back competitive games, but I think we're going to get used to it."
