As "American Horror Story" season 4 prepares begins pre-production, many are wondering which of its illustrious cast will return for a fourth round on the Ryan Murphy series.

So far, cast members Taissa Farmiga, Chloe Sevigny, and Lily Rabe might be opting out of the popular series for season 4 in favor of other projects.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Rabe, who played Misty Day on "American Horror Story: Coven," has been tapped to star in microbudget horror movie "The Veil" opposite Jessica Alba.

Reportedly, "The Veil" centers around a religious cult known as Heaven's Veil who take their own lives, and Rabe plays an adult survivor as Jessica Alba takes a documentary crew inside the compound.

Meanwhile, "American Horror Story" season 4 might be losing Taissa Farmiga again after the cast member skipped "Asylum."

Dread Central reports that Farmiga has signed on to a comedy horror flick called "The Final Girls" opposite Malin Akerman.

"The grieving daughter of a 1980s scream queen finds herself trapped in her mother’s most famous film. The women are reunited and must fight off the film’s maniacal killer before the daughter can return to her life," says the official synopsis.

With production set to begin in Louisiana in April, this could very much conflict with "American Horror Story" season 4 filming.

But one actress who could be making a return after starring in "Asylum" is Chloe Sevigny.

Sevigny currently stars on A&E's detective show "Those Who Kill," so scheduling between the two could be tricky.

"I'm not sure," she tells FearNet. "['American Horror Story' creator] Ryan Murphy teased me, 'Oh, now you're doing this show, you can't do ours.' I guess it depends if we get a second season of ['Those Who Kill'], and what happens with that. I love 'American Horror Story,' and I love this show, so I hope I can do both."
