Mein Kampf Copy Signed by Adolf Hitler Sold for Three Times Expected Price; Adolf Hitler-Autographed Copy of ‘Mein Kampf’ Sells for $64,850

Mein Kampf copies signed by Adolf Hitler hit the auction block and pulled in three times what the auction house expected. A rare, signed, two-volume set of Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" sold for $64,850 Thursday.  Copies of the book "Mein Kampf" are not rare, editions signed by Hitler are scarce.

Los Angeles auction house Nate D. Sanders said the rare "Mein Kampf" copies that were signed by Adolph Hitler were sold for three times the expected sale price. Two copies of Adolf Hitler's autobiographical trope "Mein Kampf," signed by the Nazi Fuhrer himself, hit eBay. Hitler gave the "Mein Kampf" copies away as a Christmas present.

The two copies of "Mein Kampf" signed by Adolf Hitler are joined by a leather jacket that used to belong to Hitler's chief architect, Albert Speer, on the auction block in Los Angeles.

Eleven people bid on the rare copies of Mein Kampf during an online auction that ended on Thursday evening. The winning bid includes a buyer's premium, also known as commission fees.

According to the auctioneer Nate D. Sanders Auctions, Adolf Hitler signed the fly-leaf on the rare Mein Kampf for copies for one of the first members of the Nazi party, Josef Bauer. The rare Mein Kamp editions were expected to fetch $20,000 for the two volumes. Both "Mein Kampf" copies are bound in red cloth boards with gilt lettering.

Sanders said that Adolf Hitler probably gave the Mein Kampf copies to Bauer as Christmas gifts in 1925 and 1926. The inscriptions wish Bauer best wishes for the holiday season.

"Mein Kampf" is considered one of the most racist books of modern history. The auctioneer called the rare Mein Kampf copies "an ominously signed set of books that futilely warned the world of Hitler's intentions."

Hitler dated his autograph inscription 1925 in the first copy, and 1926 in the second.

Nate D. Sanders Auctions said the two-volume set, which includes a first edition and a second edition Mein Kampf will be sold online to the highest bidder on Thursday.

Adolf Hitler wrote "Mein Kampf" while he was in prison. Mein Kampf means "My Struggle" in English. Hitler's book blames Marxists and Jews for all of Germany's troubles at the time. Millions of copies were published and distributed after Hitler rose to power in 1933. As of 1936, the Nazi state gave a copy to all newlyweds as a gift.

Nate D. Sanders Auctions said The leather jacket of Hitler's chief architect Albert Speer which is also being auctioned, was possibly worn the Speer visited Hitler for the last time on April 23rd, 1945.
