Yuna Kim 'Not Desperate' For Sochi Gold Despite 'Absurd' Results: Adelina Sotnikova Skipping 2014 World Championships Under Controversy Scrutiny!

As Yuna Kim retires with an Olympic silver, the figure skater is courteous yet dubious on the latest Sochi results which put Adelina Sotnikova ahead of her.

“Before the event, as I’ve always said, I wasn’t that desperate for the gold medal. But at the same time I thought that since I am a human being, wouldn’t I feel sorry if I don’t get the gold medal?” said Yuna Kim according to WSJ.

“As I lay down on my bed after finishing the short program, I couldn’t believe that this time (of retirement) had really come and I couldn’t control my feelings."

When asked about the 2014 Sochi Olympics figure skating results, Yuna Kim also questioned the controversial judging.

“It was absurd but I felt good that it’s over," she said simply. “When I was finished, I could feel that I was not that desperate."

Since the Olympic judging controversy, more than 2 million signatures have been added to an online petition calling for an investigation to the results which put Adelina Sotnikova above Yuna Kim.

And now, Adelina Sotnikova is adding suspicion to the debate by skipping the 2014 World Figure Skating Championships.

The Wire reports that the 17-year-old Sotnikova has been named as a substitute on Wednesday for the 2014 World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama, Japan.

Russian skaters Julia Lipnitskaia and Anna Pogorilaya are officially rostered for the competition instead.

Yuna Kim will not be attending the competition, having officially announced her retirement after the Sochi free skate, but bronze medalist Carolina Kostner and former world champion Mao Asada will compete.

American figure skaters Polina Edmunds, Gracie Gold, and Ashley Wagner will also compete.
