Michael Schumacher Condition Update: Manager Quashes Down Rumors F1 Legend ‘Is Breathing Indepedently’; ‘Only Miracle’ Can Save Him

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Michael Schumacher is making progress and is now breathing indepedently but the hospital where the Formula One legend is admitted said it is not true.

Schumacher has been in the Grenoble Hospital in France for more than two months now after sustaining a severe brain injury after falling off while skiing along French Alps. Doctors put him in induced coma and hasn't made any progress since then.

According to the Italian report, which didn't cite any reliable source, the seven-time world champion 'is recovering without 'respiratory assistance.'

However, in a report by Euro News, Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm instantly denied such claims saying "he remains in 'the wake-up phase' and anything published without official confirmation should be regarded as invalid."

"Michael is still in the wake-up phase," the agent said in a statement on Friday. "The situation has not changed."

"We are aware the wake-up phase can take a long time."

Another source said that doctors have already told the relatives of the racing icon that 'only miracle' can save him.

"The family has been told that only a miracle can bring him back now," a senior German journalist reporting on the Schumacher case said.

"He is in a bad way but until the family issues a formal statement, we cannot publish anything," he added.

Support and prayers continue to pour in for Schumacher and his family. On Friday, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said that he is still in shock over the accident that his 'friend' got into.

"From 1996 onwards (when Schumacher joined Ferrari) so many things happened in the lives of both of us and, in the difficult times, Michael was always incredibly close to the team.

"What's happened to him was a real shock to me, after all the events we shared, and a great affection still remains."
