Beyonce Ban Bossy Campaign Can Give Girls An Upgrade; Beyonce Joins Jennifer Garner and Jane Lynch to Ban the Word Bossy

Beyonce ban bossy campaign offers girls an upgrade. Beyoncé, Jennifer Garner and Jane Lynch joined other prominent women in a new #BanBossy campaign. Beyonce's new promotion features successful women calling for an end of the use of the word "bossy" as a way to empower young girls to step into leadership.

Beyoncé wants to ban the word Bossy because it subtly belittles women. Discouraging them from moving up. Beyonce, Jennifer Garner, Jane Lynch, Condoleezza Rice and Diane von Furstenberg to YouTube to appear in a Public Service Announcement for the Lean In Foundation campaign. The YouTube video notes that girls are less interested in leadership than boys that before high school age because they're afraid of the negative connotations of the word "Bossy."

The campaign was created by the Girl Scouts of USA and LeanIn.Org, a non-profit founded Facebook's chief operating officer by Sheryl Sandberg.

Sandberg says by "middle school girls are less interested in leadership than boys," because Glee actress Jane Lynch "they worry about being called," which before Chavéz explains is "bossy."

Beyonce proclaims "Be brave, be you. I'm not bossy, I'm the boss."

Designer Diane Von Furstenberg agrees "Let's just ban the word bossy."  

The "Ban Bossy" campaign also banbossy.com, a website designed to help young girls develop leadership skills as well as tips for parents and teachers to kickstart encouraging talks about female leadership. The Ban Bossy website also hosts an online pledge to ban the word.
