Kobe Bryant Return To The LA Lakers Officially Set For Next Season! Black Mamba Will Not Play For Coach Mike D'Antoni Anymore!

Kobe Bryant wants some changes. He will no longer play with the Lakers this season, and reportedly, he does not want to play for the same coach anymore.

The Lakers made the official announcement that got a lot of Captain Obvious references. The official announcement (from Sporting News):

"With Kobe's injury still not healed, the amount of time he'd need to rehab and be ready to play, and the amount of time remaining in the season, we've simply run out of time for him to return," Lakers athletic trainer Gary Vitti said. "However, Kobe will have the entire offseason to heal, rehab and prepare, and we look forward to him being 100% for the start of next season."

Kobe Bryant himself aired his statement: "Obviously this has been a frustrating and disappointing season," Bryant said in a statement released by the Lakers, "but I appreciate all the support I've received from the Lakers and the fans, and look forward to being back and ready for the start of training camp."

Not to be outdone, Kobe Bryant's former coach, Phil Jackson, also weighed in on the Mamba's official hiatus. From SiriusXM NBA Radio: "I expect he'll be back and will be a vital player. He is not going to block a shot, take the ball and go coast to coast from baseline to baseline now or rebound and do that quite as much. And so it is going to be a different guy, but he's still going to have scoring capabilities."

Speaking of Kobe's former coaches, will Mike D'Antoni be one of them? From Sporting News' Sean Deveney: "Bryant, sources said, has "no interest" in playing for D'Antoni next season, and wants a new coach in place for the 2014-15 season."

The report initially quoted ESPN's Stephen A. Smith who said that the Lakers will fire D'Antoni to pursue Carmelo Anthony. Anthony and D'Antoni did not exactly rhyme when they were together at the NY Knicks. But Deveney contends the reason is Bryant.

Kurt Helin of NBC supports Deveney's claim: "I'll simply say from Los Angeles the Lakers are lukewarm at best on going hard at Carmelo Anthony. Does anyone really see him and Kobe as making the team a contender and providing the franchise a good base for the future?"

Either way, D'Antoni is on his way out based on the reports. For most Laker fans, whether they blame Pringles or not, change would be a good thing after this embarrassing season.
