Daniel Sedin returned from missing nine games with a hamstring injury and Ryan Kesler played for the first time in five because of a sprained knee when the Canucks won their second straight on Sunday. But then a leg injury forced Henrik Sedin to leave. He also missed eight games in January and February, plus the Sochi Olympics, because of rib and finger injuries.
"It hurts, we're in a playoff race," Henrik, who has a team-leading 46 points and recorded five assists in three games prior to Sunday, told ESPN.com. "It's not fun."
Vancouver is 10th in the Western Conference and must move past Dallas and Phoenix to reach the final wild-card spot and extend its playoff streak to six seasons.
"We can't use (injuries) as an excuse," coach John Tortorella told ESPN.com. "It's just been one of those years. It is what it is. I know we have a very steep hill to climb but we're still fighting."
Minnesota finished a stretch of five games in seven nights on Sunday and begins a four-in-six stretch Wednesday, so coach Michael Yeo gave them pretty much two days ago to rest up.
"It's not just physical, it's emotional and mental," Yeo said. "Based on the schedule we've had and the schedule we have coming up, we deemed that this was our one opportunity to try to put a little extra back in the tank and get ready for this final push."
