A victory will put the Flyers back in second place in the division as they try snap back from having their five-game winning streak come to an end on Monday.

"It's extremely exciting being part of a playoff push. It's been a while for myself. With the Flyers missing the playoffs last year I think everybody was fed up with having a long summer," goaltender Steve Mason, who is expected to start Wednesday and has won his past four games, told NHL.com. "You have to keep pushing forward. [Wednesday is] going to be a great test for us."

The Rangers have won the last seven games at Madison Square Garden and look to make it eight straight. They have outscored the Flyers 28-7 in those games.  Coach Craig Berube is aware of that recent history but doesn't seem concerned, according to ESPN.com.

"We're a different team. I don't even think about that," Berube, whose club is 4-0-1 in its last five on the road said. "We're going to go up there and give them our best game. That's what I believe."

New York has been getting offensive contributions from its defensemen lately. Dan Girardi scored the tying goal with 3 1/2 minutes left in regulation before fellow defenseman Ryan McDonagh scored the winner less than two minutes into overtime. Each assisted on the other's goals.

"If you want to score in this league, you have to get help from your back end," coach Alain Vigneault said. "We'll have another day here to get our energy level back up and get ready for a tough game against Philly."
