Android Vs. iOS: Research Shows More iPhones Are Prone To Crashes Than Android-Powered Handsets, Apple Slates Perform Better Than Android Tablets

Android vs. iOS: Time and again, we go through the endless debate of which mobile platform is more stable and performs better than the other. Apple's iOS gets the recognition most of the time, often attributing to iOS's very user friendly and snappy interface.

On the other hand, Android is labeled as buggy, slow and results in crashes often.

Well a new study shows the complete opposite.

According to a report by GSM Arena, mobile app management company Crittercism released a study which shows that Android smartphones which run on versions 2.3 onwards are less likely to crash, compared to iPhones which run on iOS 6, 7 and 7.1.

In the report, out of more than a billion smartphone users over a month, Android versions Kitkat, Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich only managed to crash 0.7% of the time. Meanwhile, those devices still running on Gingerbread experiences phone crashes 1.7 percent of the time.

However, it's an entirely different story for iOS, with version 6 crashing 2.5 percent of the time, iOS 7 with 2.1 percent, and iOS 7.1 1.7 percent of the time in a one-month period.

If this tells us anything, it is that Apple's iOS may not be as fast and snappy as what it and its fans claim to be. Still, we cannot discount the fact that iPhones are still among the best handsets in the market, and it may be a matter of time until Apple finally finds a way to completely prevent crashes on its phones.

However, as for tablets, the report says that Android tablets are more likely to crash than iOS-powered slates.

So, what do you think about this study? Can you prove or disprove it?
