Newcastle United will face off against rival Southampton on Saturday, placing two of the English Premier League's closely followed teams against each other.

Newcastle United, coming out of a 3-0 loss to Everton, is expected to be the underdog in the match.

Newcastle United Manager Alan Pardew said education is key to his team's player development, The Guardian reports.

"We've got Paul Dummett, Steven Taylor, Shola and Sammy Ameobi. But what you really need is exceptional players to come through and that's what Southampton have done," Pardew said, according to the site.

"They've had Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana and it makes a huge difference. We haven't really ticked that box since I've been here but I can think of two players in our academy who, depending on their development, could be exceptional."

Southampton, coming out of a 3-2 loss to the Tottenham Hotspurs, is expected to be the favorite in the match.

Southampton Manager Mauricio Pochettino said Luke Shaw is good enough to play for Real Madrid, according to Sports Mole. 

"He can play at Real Madrid or in the world starting XI. He has the quality to do so," he said, according to the site.

"I'll repeat what I said exactly last week. Everything is calm and we are working to finish the season off as best as possible."
