Dell XPS 12 Review: Specs Of Haswell-powered 12.5-inch Windows 8 Unit Incl. Full HD Display, 4th Gen Intel iCore; Third Gen Variant Of Convertible ‘Snap Into Shape’

Dell XPS 12 review, specs: The 12.5-inch Windows 8 convertible, Dell XPS 12, features a complete version of Windows 8 and has a 4th gen Intel iCore processor (codenamed Haswell) under the hood and great HD display. Users are saying that this could finally be the winning model for the convertible product line.

The Verge, in their review with the sub-headline, “For this spinning laptop, the third’s time a charm,” says that the machine was “snap into shape.” The tech site says that the “XPS 12 is the perfect laptop for commuter rail.”

“The critically-acclaimed Dell XPS 12 returns with a nearly-identical form factor but an upgraded chipset and battery,” noted NotebookCheck in its review.

Dell XPS 12’s key feature is a 12.5-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels that pivots inside its aluminum frame, PC World notes on its own review. Once you open the XPS 12’s lid, you can use the computer just like any other notebook. You just need to push the top front or bottom.

The NoteBook Check review noted that in terms of built, the Dell XPS 12 is “from materials to fit and finish, this is certainly a top-tier device.” The tech site also said that the Dell XPS 12 remains a solidly-built piece of technology, chiseled out of machined aluminum, carbon fiber and magnesium.

One downside though with the Dell XPS 12 is that it’s heavy, especially when held with only one hand. There are also some occasional delay in screen-orientation switch. The Dell XPS 12 also only has two USB ports.

On the positive side, the Dell XPS 12 has a keyboard that is not exposed in tablet mode. It also has outstanding battery life and includes an 802.11 ac Wi-Fi adapter.

Price for the Dell XPS 12 starts at $999.99 for its entry-level variant.
