NVIDIA Tegra K1 Release Date: Octa-Core SuperChip Will Be In Lenovo 50-inch 4K TV; Spec Sheet Saying ‘World’s Fastest’ 200 Core CPU Present In New TV

NVIDIA Tegra K1 release date: The octa-core super chip that was the darling on last January’s Consumer Electronics Shows, the NVIDIA Tegra K1, will be present in Lenovo 50-inch 4K TVs. The newest processor from the gaming company is known to have the faster processor in the world, outperforming it’s counterpart from Intel (Haswell), Qualcomm (Snapdragon 800), and Apple (A7).

Lenovo’s vice president used his Weibo account to reveal a handful of details about the upcoming 4K 50-inch smart TV. The TV’s description says that it will take advantage of the world’s fastest 200-core CPU + GPU. When the chipset by NVIDIA was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show last January, it noted that it will have 200 cores total (192 GPU Kepler CUDA scores). There are also absolutely no sign of a different CPU being in the works, featuring these same characteristics.

Reports noted that the new details on the upcoming Lenovo TV and features of the NVIDIA Tegra K1 is not a coincidence. In a report by GforGames, it said that they’re pretty confident that the 200-core CPU + GPU referred to by the Lenovo VP is the NVIDIA Tegra K1. The tech site said that what makes it interesting is the story is reportedly “just around the corner.”

If the Lenovo TV is indeed released with the NVIDIA Tegra K1, it would be the first device to take advantage of the new chipset. This will therefore make the Lenovo Smart TV, a very smart one.

NVIDIA unveiled the Tegra K1 processor at the Consumer Electronics Show with many impressive claims about its performance and underlying architecture. The manufacturer known for its chipset for gaming has also said that the Tegra K1 would debut in two different parts, the quad-core Cortex-A15r3 and a dual-core 64-bit chip that support ARM’s 64-bit instruction set.

Below are what could seem like claims or promises NVIDIA makes about its newest chipset based on the Tegra K1 whitepaper.

“A vast majority of Xbox 360 and PS3 titles could be easily ported to Tegra K1 devices with minimal effort, delivering similar visual quality and gameplay experience,” it writes. ExtremeTech said that the company has claimed that the Tegra K1 is substantially more powerful than last-generation consoles.
