Amanda Knox Retrial Update: 'Foxy Knoxy' Spreads False Information Via Social Media? Convicted Killer Accused Of Faking Accounts To Boost Twitter Followers

Amanda Knox's retrial conviction continues to generate controversy as the convicted killer known as "Foxy Knoxy" has been accused of manipulating social media,Twitter in particular, in order to spread false information  and win public sympathy.

Amanda Knox's "media manipulation" is mainly being initiated by Gogerty Marriott, the PR firm she hired to bleach her image, according to Examiner. The PR firm, in turn, hired companies that specialize in creating bots and fake accounts on Twitter to create fake support for her.

"This mechanical manipulation has been used constantly and consistently in Amanda Knox's campaign to spread misinformation about her case," Examiner's Liz Houle wrote, giving the illusion that social media users are supporting her cause.

"To compensate (or overcompensate) for her lack of support, Amanda Knox's team have perpetuated a three-tier attack on social network Twitter," the publication added.

The companies then use bots to spread support following the Amanda Knox retrial with the hashtag #amandaknox. Then they created fake accounts to follow her own Twitter account, which has since breached 6,000, according to the report.

The website justice4ever.com also took note "an emerging pattern of continuous pro-innocence tweets" after the Amanda Knox retrial conviction. According to the website, the tweets had the same message, verbatim, and tweeted by random accounts. When the website admin tried to respond to the messages, there was no reply.

"Why would Amanda Knox, her promoters and fans have a need to resort to BOTs? A wild guess would be that her tweeted black and white Siamo Innocenti selfie was a major fail," the website added, explaining that she ended up a laughingstock in social media.

In recent days, it's been pretty quiet in all fronts for any Amanda Knox's retrial update. There's no news on when the former student accused of killing her roommate Meredith Kercher will appeal the conviction of the Italian Supreme Court that sentenced her to 28 years in prison, while her boyfriend and co-defendant, Raffaele Sollecito received a 25-year-sentence.
