The Good Wife Season 5 Break Up Spoilers [VIDEO]: Lockhard/Gardner, Florrick/Agos Merger Before The Finale?

As "The Good Wife" season 5 heads towards the finale, spoilers regarding another major event may leave the show changed yet again.

"Can me and the governor have a conscious uncoupling?" asks Julianna Margulies during a recent event of "The Good Wife."

This may foreshadow Alicia's journey on the rest of season 5, and a recent promo for the upcoming episode of "The Good Wife" showcases a fight like none other between Peter and Alicia.

In addition, spoilers also confirm that Lockhard/Gardner and Florrick/Agos will consider a merger after the death of Will Gardner. Whether that comes to fruition before the finale remains to be seen.

And it is definitely no coincidence that Matthew Goode's character Finn was introduced during the episode of Will's demise, and executive producers Robert and Michelle King hinted at a bigger presence for the recurring character on "The Good Wife" season 5.

"He’s Alicia’s connection to Will’s last moments, because he was there [in the courtroom]. He was with Will. And it turns out he was fairly heroic in covering Will. And Finn was hit a few times with gunfire because of that. So Alicia feels a connection there," said Robert to TVLine.

"Josh created a great jolt of male energy in the show. We wanted an equivalent jolt once we knew Josh was leaving. So no matter what way Josh was leaving the show, we knew we needed to get more male energy."

But given the lack of a strong male lead and love interest for Alicia, spoilers confirm that it is possible Finn could become the new romantic lead on "The Good Wife" season 5.

“We’re not going there [yet],” continued Robert. ”A lot of what we do is watch the dailies and see what comes out. There is a lot of fun chemistry between Julianna [Margulies] and Matthew [Goode], but we can’t [address the potential for romance] until we react a little bit more to what’s being shot.”
