Darth Vader, the leader of the Internet Party of Ukraine, announced that he is running for president. The Empire is now facing a rebellion from the Ukrainian Central Elections Commission in Kiev.

Darth Vader submitted documents to the Ukrainian Central Elections Commission to register as a candidate for Ukraine's May 25 presidential election, but "The Force" was not with the man in the Darth Vader costume. Ukrainian authorities rejected Darth Vader's bid.

Darth Vader wants to run against Petro Poroshenko, a billionaire candy maker. 23 candidates registered to run in the snap presidential election in Ukraine on 25 May. The election was called after President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted following months of protests.

After winning the nomination from the Internet Party of Ukraine, Darth Vader appeared at a press conference in full costume surrounded by Imperial Stormtroopers and a couple Chewbacca. Darth Vader promised to turn Ukraine into "a galactic empire" in his acceptance speech. Local media reports that Vader also demanded a plot of land in Odessa to park his space ship.
