US Airways Tweet Photo Of Naked Woman Prompts Apology From Airline But Employee Who Sent Photo Won’t Be Fired; American Airlines Also Threatened By ‘Al Qaeda’ On Twitter

The US Airways tweet photo of a naked woman with a toy plane might be accidental but the airline issued an apology following several complaints from Twitter users. As per US airways, someone sent them the tweet and while trying to flag the image as inappropriate, they have inadvertently included the photo in a response to a customer who was complaining about her delayed flight.

The US Airways tweet photo has been removed after one hour but it was already retweeted hundreds of times. US Airways spokesperson Matt Miller said that the company wouldn't fire the person who mistakenly sent the pornographic image.

"It was an honest mistake and it was done while capturing the tweet and flagging it as inappropriate, our standard procedure," he said.

"We apologise for an inappropriate image recently shared as a link in one of our responses. We've removed the tweet and are investigating," read the airline's tweet which was reposted more than 13,000 times.

Apart from US Airways, its sister company American Airlines was likewise involved in a Twitter controversy last Monday (April 13) wherein someone sent them a tweet saying that the Al Qaeda group was planning an attack.

The threat eventually turned out to be sent by a 14-year-old Dutch girl. American Airlines responded and said that they would forward the girl's details to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Apart from deleting the series of tweets, the girl's account has been suspended as well. However, several teenagers have copied the girl's prank by sending empty threats to American Airlines. It is yet unknown as to how the airline will handle the issue.
