Russell Adams Australian Pilot Involved In MH370 Search Becomes Internet Sensation; Is It Proper To Admire The Man In A Time Of Crisis?

Russell Adams, the Australian pilot involved in the searched for the missing flight Malaysian Airlines MH370 has become an internet sensation. Thanks to the Aussie man’s dashing good looks, prop up hair and Top Gun-like appeal, the Royal Australian Air Force lieutenant has received attention beyond what he may have expected.

But is it proper to admire such a man in time of crisis? Especially when the issue is seemingly unresolved for than a month past and families by the hundreds are grieving for? The issue is split among many.

Instinct Magazine noted that it is “good to see worried citizens of the world haven’t lost their sense of humor.”

“I'm just trying to follow the rules here. Discussing whether someone is 'hot' is okay. Discussing whether someone is 'hot' who is involved in a national story that is deemed by most to be a 'tragedy' is also okay, but maybe tacky,” writes user Jesse in a story posted by Instinct Magazine.

“An online article taking this discussion to a larger audience, this crosses a line and now it's perceived as ‘trash’."

Some netizens have approached the admiration for the Air Force member with a balanced view.

“He is a very good looking man and a great spokesman for the RAAF. Leave it at that,” wrote user Stephen Newlove.

According to News.com.au, Adams led the team aboard the RAAF P3 Orion that set out across the southern Indian Ocean to find debris that could possibly belong to the missing plane.

The Australian-based news site noted that instead of finding the debris, the Aussie public servant is found a whole new legion of fans.

News.com.au features below some of the things that have been said about Russell Adams.

“Can we just take a moment to appreciate Captain Russell Adams from the Australian MH370 search team.”
“Gosh that Australian Air Force guy Russell Adams on the news is a hottay mallottay!! #sort”

“In another country, he’d be a model. In Australia, he’s just Russell Adams ... pilot.”
