Will IU Benefit from “Cherry Blossom” Pensions?

Can IU's Spring carol be the second "Cherry Blossom Ending"?

High4 and IU's "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms", released on April 8, is taking K-Pop by the storm. It has been in #1-3 on Melon, Genie, Olleh Music, Monkey3, Mnet, and Naver Music since its release.

"Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms" is a witty song expressing the loneliness that comes in spring. The classical acoustic sound and funky real band sounds are mixed harmoniously to create a spring carol. IU featured in the song and wrote the lyrics of the song.

Although the song sings of loneliness, it is lovely and warm like the spring breeze. IU and High4's charming voice entwines together in perfect harmony.

The song is reminiscent of Busker Busker's spring song "Cherry Blossom Ending". The focus on cherry blossoms, as evidenced by the songs' titles, make them representative of the spring season.

"Cherry Blossom Ending", included in Busker Busker's first album released on March 2012, has repeatedly topped charts every Spring since its release, competing with the newly released songs. It has earned itself the nicknames "Cherry Blossom Zombie" and "Cherry Blossom Pension". The song placed itself on Melon's TOP 10 monthly charts last March.

"Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms" is definitely the Spring carol of the year. Furthermore, because no new releases are projected for the next week due to the Sewol sinking, the song is to hold its place on top charts for an extended period of time.

Whether "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms" will live to the fame of "Cherry Blossom Endings" is the topic of attention.
