Group U-KISS Participates In Yellow Ribbon Campaign During Ball Throw At Japan Baseball Game

Idol group U-KISS has been gaining attention for participating in the yellow ribbon campaign.

On April 26, U-KISS attended a baseball game at the Fukuoka Yafuoku Dome and were able to throw the first pitch to launch the game into play.

The baseball teams in competition were the Softbank Hawks and the Seibu Lions.

The members all wore yellow ribbons on their chest to show their respect to the Sewol ferry incident and its victims.

U-Kiss also stated to the crowd that hope should not be lost as they expressed great sadness in regards to the South Korean tragedy.

Although they did not first receive permission for this specific yellow ribbon campaign, they received a lot of support from the fans in Japan.

The yellow ribbon campaign is getting more widespread as details of the Sewol incident continue to surface.

Allkpop reports that Big Star is the next celebrity group to join the campaign.

Big Star recently tweeted, "During our overseas activities after completing 'Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education,' we heard about the news of Sewol. We are saddened that all we can do is pray right now."

The group continued, "With one heart, we all want to earnestly believe that a miracle will happen right now! We pray that they return to their families alive."

Big Star made sure to add, "To the rescue workers who are putting their strength into rescuing them until the late hours... Please don't lose hope until the end. Everyone, gain strength! We give our condolences to the bereaved families. Pray For South Korea."

As celebrities continue to show their support, there have also been developments in South Korea in regards to the sunken ferry.

TIME has reported that the South Korean president Park Geun-hye has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Chung Hong-wun.

Chung has reportedly been asked to stay in office until the rescue operations are complete.

Chung Hong-wun told the media in Seoul, "As I saw grieving families suffering with the pain of losing their loved ones and the sadness and resentment of the public, I thought I should take all responsibility as Prime Minister."

After intense investigation, it has been found that the Sewol was overloaded, overcrowded and under the command of an inexperienced crew member at the time the ferry capsized.
