Peaches Geldof Cause Of Death Possibly Heroin; Did History Repeat Itself 14 Years After Socialite’s Mother Paula Yates Died Because Of Accidental Overdose?

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham revealed that the Peaches Geldof cause of death was possibly heroin. Earlier this month, the 25-year-old journalist was found dead insider her Kent home. The death has been described as "non-suspicious" and "sudden unexplained".

Though a post-mortem examination has been carried out, it didn't yield Peaches Geldof's cause of death. This prompted authorities to conduct further testing. At the opening of the writer's inquest in Gravesend, authorities have linked the possible role of heroin in her death.

"Recent use of heroin and the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death," said Fortheringham during the 10-minute hearing. No family members attended the hearing though an inquest would start on July 23.

It was Geldof's husband, Thomas Cohen, who found her unconscious body. Fortheringham described what took place four days before Peaches Geldof's death:

"On Thursday April 3, 2014, Thomas Cohen went with his two sons to stay for the weekend at his parents' house in south-east London. This is a normal occurrence which enables Peaches and Thomas to complete work in their respective careers. It is believed that Peaches spent Saturday afternoon, into the evening, and Sunday morning at her home address alone."

Though experts were able to detect levels of heroin, one friend of the blonde beauty said that Geldof "seemed her normal self" when she phoned her the night before the tragedy took place. There was reportedly no cause for concern since Geldof was even "making plans for the future, including a family outing for her sons the next weekend."

If Peaches Geldof's cause of death can indeed be attributed to heroin, her passing away will be deemed as an unfortunate case of history repeating itself. In 2000, Geldof's mother, Paula Yates, died aged 41 because of an accidental overdose.

Peaches Geldof's funeral took place on an Easter Monday. After a Davington village-held funeral service, her remains were carried into the church where she got baptized as a little girl and where she married her husband.
