May Comeback Singers ‘Want To Postpone Further’

Singers whose comebacks were inevitably pushed because of the Sewol ferry accident are in deep contemplation.

Although some of these singers were thinking about postponing comebacks to early June or even July, but because coordinating schedules is not easy, they are having to go with May comebacks as planned. Activities will be reduced significantly, and put more emphasis on the new song release.

The victor will be determined by the songs. EXO, INFINITE, and BEAST are all boy groups with powerful fandoms. They will probably showcase a comeback one after another week by week.

There's always the possibility that things might change, but as of now it looks like the number 1 album sales for May will go to the relay boy groups. If music programs are restored, then it's highly likely that EXO's comeback will be first. EXO will then be followed by BEAST, INFINITE, and 2PM. BEAST has activities planned for Japan in June, so they have no choice but to go with a May comeback. It's also very probable that INFINITE will have a comeback in mid-May. 2PM had been planning for a comeback in early June, and it'll be hard to postpone it because of the World Cup.

Since broadcast music program trophies hold great significance for singers, some others were hoping for a comeback after the boy group war. However, that's more easily said than done. Even with agencies they have to focus on other artists' projects, so it's difficult to keep pushing schedules. One agency rep stated, "The lineup for the World Cup, Summer, and even Winter has already been planned out somewhat. If we push the schedule even one month, then the impact on the next singers will be great. It looks like we have no choice but to go with a comeback in May."

So these artists' new strategies are to minimize official activities as much as possible, and focus solely on promoting the songs. Since competition on music programs and promotions will be fierce thanks to the boy groups, they will pour out their energy into picking a song that can have a great effect with just the sound. Such artists are reexamining their new songs to see if its likeable by the public, and whether it will have a good response on music charts. Since boy groups have a relatively lesser impact on music charts, other artists may get ahead if they target the music charts.

One music rep stated, "We were originally going to go with a more experimental sound for the new song, but since the competition will be in the music charts, we're looking for the best song that will be most well received by the general public."
