‘Insidious 3' Plot Spoilers: Sequel To Feature New Lead Stars! Ghost Hunters Will Remain To Investigate All-New Ghost Story!

Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind the upcoming "Insidious 3" is totally mum on the details. But some key plot spoilers are creeping out of the woodwork.

In an interview with Screenrant, Leigh Whanell shared some details on the film in the midst of promoting his latest SXSW film "The Mule." He shares the details (transcribed by Moviefone):

"[Producer] Jason Blum will probably kill me if I say anything,"But I can say that it's not based around the Lambert family anymore, it's not Rose Byrne's character -- which I actually really liked, going back and just wiping the slate clean and starting over again. It felt like writing the first film, 'cause you weren't bound to any particular character. ... It felt really good."

The rest of the major points in the interview can be summed up as follows. From Screenrant:

"A script for the film is complete.

Insidious 1 & 2 stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne are NOT returning.

Insidious 3 will focus on a new family and story.

That story is NOT connected to the last scene in Insidious 2.

Whannell and Sampson WILL returns as ghost hunters Specs and Tucker, respectively."

Despite the idea that the movie will 'start from scratch' most of the elements would still be there. The Leigh Whannell is still the same creative writer and there will be more scary ideas. However, the creative team will miss one of the most vital cogs: Director James Wan.

Screenrant writes: "One of the reasons that Wan's films have been such a success is their very unique aesthetics and the often brilliant camera tricks used to create scary moments. The use of practical effects and make-up, along with the fact that Wan isn't afraid to show his monsters in the daylight, have created a very recognizable signature among his current body of work in the horror genre. It's hard to imagine a new director successfully mimicking this style, and such imitation probably wouldn't even be desirable."

They do not have a director yet, but they do have a release date set on April 3, 2015. Blumhouse is not afraid of releasing in April nor are they wary of all the possible blockbusters in 2015. They have always believed that their films and their genre will fins a niche of its own.
