Old school K-Pop and a solo artist have made a huge impact on the Korean music scene this week, diminishing the success of EXO's "Overdose." 

The iChart chart hosted by instiz, shows the huge lead that g.o.d and Junggigo have over EXO regarding ranking, sales, and searches through the Internet. This past week, EXO released "Overdose" to huge fanfare, and shortly after g.o.d reunited for the first time in several years and released "The Lone Duckling," while Junggigo released "Want U."

Even though EXO's fans are very dedicated, the group's song and album has lost some of its momentum due to g.o.d's long-awaited return. EXO's fans may be extremely loyal, but they cannot compete with fans that have waited eight years to see their favorite idols perform together again.

g.o.d's fifteenth anniversary reunion has pulled at the heartstrings of older K-Pop fans who grew up with g.o.d. The group disbanded in 2006 but fans have been calling for years for a comeback. Now that g.o.d has done just that, it is understandable why the group's fans are rioting.

Junggigo's popularity is a bit of a surprise, since solo artists are often seen to be struggling in the Korean music industry. But Junggigo's long career and the recent success of his duet "Some" with SISTAR's Soyou has rocketed him to stardom.  

The smooth style and sound of "Want U" is more appealing to a wider audience than many K-Pop songs. In contrast, EXO's "Overdose" doesn't have anything that really attracts people who dislike K-Pop. In general, K-Pop is very limited to younger fans in Korea, but songs like "Want U" capture the nation's attention for being relatable by people of all ages.  

Real-time charts in Korea show immediate trends, so EXO's "Overdose" may very well gain popularity again, but for the moment EXO faces attention from two unlikely competitors. 

"The Lone Duckling" and "Want U" surpassed "Overdose" on the iChart real-time chart practically the moment that each song was released.
