FIFA World Cup 2014 USA Roster: 18-Year-Old Julian Green, 20-Year-Old DeAndre Yedlin Make The Cut, Eddie Johnson Excluded; Full List Here!

The FIFA World Cup 2014 is a month away and the USA roster was announced today by U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann. The FIFA World Cup 2014 USA roster included some young faces, like teenager Julian Green and 20-year-old DeAndre Yedlin.

Julian Green and DeAndre Yedlin surprised FIFA World Cup 2014 fans when they were listed as part of the 30 men on U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann's team. Green was born in Florida, but raised in Germany.

According to Klinsmann, the midfielder separated his shoulder in the U.S.-Mexico exhibition in early April and hasn't played for his Bayern Munich's second team since, USA Today reports. However, he was back in training last week.

Yedlin, a right back for the Seattle Sounders, has just two international appearances with the national team, but has excelled in MLS play, according to the publication.

"With Julian and DeAndre, we have two huge talents being part of the 30-man roster and it will be interesting to see how they take that challenge," Klinsmann said. "Because they obviously don't have the experience that other players have it will be interesting for our coaches to see how they take it on and how they now compete for the 23 (player) roster. But if you analyze both players, they have tremendous upside in their development curve and going forward. We'll see clearly over the next three weeks if they're ready for a World Cup or not."

Who didn't make the cut?

USA Today notes that the most shocking exclusion on the FIFA World Cup 2014 USA roster was D.C. United forward Eddie Johnson, who scored the World Cup clinching goal last year against Mexico. Klinsmann said he based his decision on numbers: there are six forwards on the roster and one of those spots went to Landon Donovan, who typically plays midfield. The six chosen were "a lit bit ahead of the curve" compared to Johnson, Klinsmann said.

According to USA Today, other significant exclusions from the US team include: Tim Ream, Brek Shea, Edgar Castillo, Sacha Kljestan and Michael Orozco.
